Clwb Alawon
Tune Club
Informal traditional tune workshop
Whatever your instrument, come and have a go!

Once a month, in the new Galeri arts centre in Caernarfon, Neil runs these two-hour informal workshops. The main purpose is to learn folk tunes which are mostly drawn from the Welsh tradition, and have fun doing it. Sheet music is provided, but you must bring your ears as well...

We also have a go at learning tunes by ear, and discuss things like how to keep up in a lively tune-session, and how to choose chords to go with the tunes. To this end, two or three free CDs are also part of the deal, which you can take away to practise to. I also recommend the 'Amazing Slowdowner' program to help you learn fast tunes at your own pace- Click here to find out more about this useful software!

Neil's experience teaching various instruments means he may well be able to help you with your technique too. Instruments we have had so far at the sessions include: guitar, fiddle, piano accordion, button accordion, mandolin, clarsach harp, concertina, flute, recorder, ukelele, and cello. Pretty much anything is welcome, as long as it's acoustic.

Do get in touch to check the dates if you are coming any distance, just in case there are any last minute changes. It will probably be in Room 14, our usual room at Galeri.

All Sunday sessions run from 2 pm 'til 4 pm
