Music & Songs
NEVER MIND THE BOCS
[treb clef]
The band's music is a varied mixture of tunes and songs. Reflecting the truly bilingual area in which they live, there are songs in both English and Welsh. Alongside the traditional material is a growing collection of self-penned songs and tunes. Go straight to mp3 samples

Perhaps this variety is no surprise, considering their diverse influences. For example, they have run a ceilidh/twmpath band ('Band Y Braichmelyn') for well over ten years here in North Wales; Neil was the guitarist with top folk-rockers Bluehorses; both Neil and Pete play with the Welsh-language cajun band Cajuns Denbo, which has two successful albums on Sain records to its credit. Both Neil and Meg have written music for Welsh TV programmes, and David won the Sidmouth bodhran competition some years ago, when only 13!

Traditional songs such as Hiraethand Rhybudd Y Carwr are complemented by Meg's beautiful Menai Shore and My Lover's House (which laments the sectarianism too often still found in the world). Their tune-sets include lively versions of the traditional Hoffedd ap Hywel and Knights of Snowdon, and their own Chinese Whispers and Mad Pachelbel's Dangerous Floorboard (don't ask)!

More mp3 samples are available here.

Before too long it is also hoped to put the music to a few more of the unusual tunes up here on the website for your delectation. To start with, you can baffle your friends with the twisted logic of Meg's "Thin Ice". We may even put some Midifiles up before too long, you never know...
